Concept Art: Resort design

Sometimes I have been asked to illustrate large resorts, concert venues and theme parks in order to show clients how awesome they’ll ultimately turn out to be once they’re actually built. Since the thing hasn’t yet been built, I sometimes need to base the illustration off of a footprint sketch or rough scribble of the place, doing my best to flesh out the lighting, fun and other goodness with ye olde trusty imagination. Basically I make it up. Resort design is fun from these “god’s eye” perspectives because you get to show the place in full swing, with fireworks ablaze, lasers shooting up, the parking full and every place in the joint at full tilt.
